Default ej207, td06, 340hp. Is 10w60 to thick?

Hey guys.

Went to get some oil from the local Auto One, and was looking for something fully synthetic 10w40 but couldn't find anything there in that grade.

Closest oils were Castrol Edge Sport 10w60, or Mobil 1 5w50, but have heard mixed reviews of Mobil 1, and think it may be to thin cold starts. I realise Subaru recommends 5w30, but surely that's for a stock ej205?

Basiclly looking for good oil recommendations, and thoughts on the Castrol being to thick.

Cheers,

I dont think so.

I run Castrol 10w60 on my built ej257 with a td06-20G too.

If you are running a motor with OEM clearances 10w40 is fine.

The Nulon fully Synthetic 10W-40 is pretty good. Worth a look.

Available at Supercheap and Repco most times I've been there.

Seeing as tho ASG built and tuned your car, I would ring them and ask what to use.

I'd use whatever the tuner recomends or whatever the Subaru engineers recommend in the manual.

I think ASG uses Mobil 5W50.

FHI engineer's recommend 5w-30, but your car is far from standard. I still use the genuine 5w-30 fully synthetic Subaru oil in my car, TD06/20, exhaust, injectors, 21psi, blah, blah, which has done 223000k's and it doesn't use a drop, and runs fine.
Subaru oil is the same as Castrol edge 5w-30.

Use whatever ASG put in it.. that's what I do, as they built and tuned my car.
