Default sump gasket?

Hey people,

Just wondering if anyone knows what it will cost for a sump gasket on a 1997 MY98 WRX?

And will it be quite and easy change when i do it? (will i need a certain type of gasket goo? Will i need to change the bolts to a new set?)

Pretty sure it is the sump as i have had a look and the oil seems to be all over the oil filter and on bottom of the sump, doubting it's a head gasket otherwise my car would run like crap wouldn't it?

cheers for any input in advance.

could be your crank seal, running back or your rear main.

well there we go, learn something new everyday, thought it had a gasket lol.

sure as hell hope it isn't a crank seal running back or my rear main, if it was one of those wouldn't my car run a little off? it seems to boost up fine accelerate fine and idle fine.

It is parked up at the moment and i'm driving my mums car for a week or so until i get around to fixing it, but i just want to clarify if it would run like crap?

i rather it be the crank seal than the sump, done one before and what a pain in the arse to do. No your car wouldn't run like shit, its just a seal.

where is the crank seal located? and what would i need to go through to change such a thing? would i have to remove anything else off the car to get to this?
