Default GC8 on a Hoist

Hi Guys,

Just quickly, is there any particular spots on the underside of the GC8 Chassis that I should/shouldnt put the hoist legs under to lift the car up? Or is just kicking them under the chassis and pressing the UP button good enough?

Thanks,
Cam.

there are cut-outs in the side skirts, the jacking points.

use those.

If you don't have the mechanical knowledge to jack up a car correctly, you shouldn't be allowed to work on it.

Read your manual and make sure you know where the correct locations are 'as mentioned above', you can easily write your car off if you put them in the wrong location 'chassis flex etc'.

You'll find with most single/double post hoists they wont give you much in the way of locating the jack points but it's still good to know whats, what.

Unsure if this applies to you but you need to be extra careful if you have either/both front/rear windows out.

i have worked at subaru , and the right way is through the jaking points that are cut ot as some one above quoted, and the other is the chassi rails and the T member 17mm bolt , plates.

Rant over...

I suppose we all start somewhere, and any mistakes we make along the way (however expensive) will give more knowledge for future...

I guess I can't talk, as myself and another forum member almost stripped a bolt whilst installing a H-brace by turning it the wrong direction...

Here's a good diagram that should help:

Good luck!

All I need to do is lift it up so I can get better access for my Mudflaps, was going to use my uncles hoist tomorrow.

The general consensus is to just be careful when doing it 'if you've not done it before'.

Follow the green outline in the diagram posted by Jezza and I'm sure your uncle would know where to jack it up from if he owns a hoist
