Default GX Gearbox vs WRX gearbox

Can anyone tell me if the gearbox from a 98 GX is weaker than the WRX gearbox?

Also, if you happen to know, what ratios these are code is TY754VR1AB

Appreciate any help you can provide.

I am pretty sure that the WRX gearbox would HAVE to be stronger than the N/A GX box, only due to the fact that the WRX = turbo and the GX = N/A.

I'm sure someone will correct me, but it would make sense to build a stronger gearbox for a turbo engine, so it doesn't break easily.

When people do N/A to turbo conversions, they often drop in a WRX donk and running gear because the non turbo driveline is not designed to take the extra power and will fail.

As to the ratios, I am unsure, but someone else can shed light on them.???

gx box will use a different clutch assembly, not interchangeable unless you swap to a cable clutch too.

they are also 3.9 with 1:1 centre.

so you need a 3:9 rear diff to suit

Direct quote from OZliberty.com

"Well the standard ty754 and late model ty752 garboxes can handle to abt 200kwatw if anymore might consider 6speed or ppg straight cut gears."

this is the same gearbox you have?

They are not as strong. They have a scissor gear to quieten the gear noise and as such the effective gear width is less than a WRX gearbox. Also, they have a push clutch instead of a pull clutch.
There's a few dodgy MoFo's that sell them and fit them to WRX's.
The ratios are different too, they have a 2.111 second instead of a 1.9 and so forth, none of the gears are interchangable with a turbo box.
