Quick question im looking at some 17x7.5 Rota G-Force with a +48mm or a + 44 offset. how will it sit on the car, will it rub or stick out. thinking of putting 235 or 225 tires on it as well the cars has had no suspension work done either... The car is a 1998 WRX wagon has anyone got some on their gf8 to have a look at... also what would be the widest rim/ Tyre i could get under there before id need to roll the guards.
Cheers |
Hey
I've got a GD 2001 wagon. I'm currently running 18 x8 +42 offset with 225's with coilovers but not running neg camber & they sit flush with the guards.Hopefully this helps. |
Looking to get new tyre's soon.
I want to address the issue where my rims are so easy to damage. If i touch a kerb, I will almost certainly damage my rims. The lip of the rim is exposed. I currently run 225x40x18 on 8.5inch rim. So, If I go 235x40x18, this should short it out? I am pretty low and scrub a little bit on the liners when pushing the car hard into corners, so not to keen on going 245, but would probably look pretty good? Also, should one stick with a 40 profile, or goto 45? Tyre recommendations based on the above? I am running Nitto Invo's currently and have been REALLY REALLY impressed by these tyres. |
245*40*18 standard dunflop sp600's on my sti (8.5inch rim) looked a little stretched believe it or not. The yoko AD08's in the same fitment have vertical sidewalls and really fill the guard up more than the stockers. Can't compare the tyres for performance, like chalk and cheese.
Cheers. |
Can anyone help me with size selection on tryes for 8.5 wide rims 225, 235 ? Or wider ? Tossing up between ad08s and hankook r-s3s
|
I run 245/45/18 AD08's on my 18 x 8.5 track rims. I can find a pic for you. They fill the guards nicely too.

225 will have lots of stretch, 235 not so bad 245 just right.
|
Sweet 245 it is, now I just need to decide what tyre.
|
Z1 star spec maybe?

Yeah from what I've read the hankooks seem to be bang for buck. Yoko's seem to be the best but are also the most expensive. I'll look into the g forces.
|
just remember that with 245s your speedo will be worse off than with 235s...with 245s you will be doing ~96km/hr when your speedo reads 100....with 235s its ~98km/hr when it shows 100
:)
Sweet 245 it is, now I just need to decide what tyre.
|
Depending on the profile, ie 30,35,40 etc

advice needed... I have the stock rims on my STI, that being 17x8 +53
will I be able to run 225/45/17 up front and 245/40/17 at the back? it comes out at 6.5mm tyre diameter difference between front and back... is that too much for the diff? cheers |
Why not run the same 225 or 245 on all 4 ? Why different profiles ?
|
No from me and It hurts my head trying to imagine how it would look on a wrx with different tyres on the front and rear

there is a set of a050's on gumtree in those profiles for not much $ that's all. sounds like i'll be wise to pass then!

Would a 20 x 8.5 rim with 40 to 45 offset fit a 06 STI without to much trouble? anyone with experience with this size? Tyre would be 225/30.

I would say we told you so but you already know that.
You can get maybe a couple mm at best from the rear guard. |
Yea I've asked him to have a look, see what he can do
|
I can get you a few mm just give the car for an hour
|
It's not often we get two different retards 'tarding it up on the same page.
|
Haha ok Dave I'll keep your grinder offer in mind when the wheels are on and if it needs it...lol
Stu said to come back when the wheels are on and he can sort out the back then as he'll be able to see where rubbing |
this just keeps getting better

Common mr trolley...I know you enjoy my lols ;)
Like I said right from the start I will laugh too at this if its a fk up and just means back to drawing board or troubleshooting, not the end of the world(but is my free pass to rub :p ) |

I HAVE A SERIOUS QUESTION. *
what is the deal with Enkie RPF1 rims and clearance over brembos on the GD sti's? Looking at the 18x8.5 38+. I remember reading about spacers in Crawlers thread but he has since deleted everything. Can anyone shed some light? *hopefully this stands out amongst all the other crap going on. |
