Help with springs, very rough!
I have Kings Super Lows on my 00 which were on the car when i bought it 2 months ago.
When going over some medium bumps the car makes a loud bang up front and seems very rough. I didn't notice it when I bought the car cause the test drive was on smooth roads. Down in Albany where i live the roads are best described as Crap, so i need to do something about it soon before my car becomes rattle central. I have been told the springs as they age can rest on the bump stops and cause a really rough ride. I understand they should be stiffer than stock, but I have been in a similar wrx with Kings SL's and it was no where near as bad. I don't want to go out and get new springs if it is something else. Any ideas or similar experiences would be much appreciated :-) |

seems like ur hitting the bump stops in your shocks, king springs are pretty soft springs..maybe lok at gettin them re-tensioned or sumshit

I have king springs and Konis and have the same problem, the car drives way better though, get coilovers or new springs if you don't like it.

Superlow springs tend to kill shockies very quickly. My guess is that your shocks have RIP-ed and hence hitting the bumpstops very quickly. In addition (like what you said), springs sag as they age and thus adding to the problem.
Personally, I think superlow springs are not advisable as they offer very very little travel before hitting the bumps. This translates to poorer at-the-limit handling, reduced shocks longevity and a harsh ride. Then again, to each his own, some rate the slammed look higher than the practicality of things. Being an 00, I would venture to guess that the mileage will be a little on the high side. I would take this opportunity to upgrade the shocks as well. Having said that, coilovers are much cheaper than they used to be, so maybe look into that as well. And then braces, bars, bushes, links, oops.. got carried away |

I highly suggest gettin a new set of 'performance' shockies that allow for lowered springs to be fitted. I'd recommend a set of koni adjustables or similar with ur current springs - will definitely alleviate the problem without going down the coilover avenue.

I might go see my local bloke and have a chat with him, is there anyway to tell for sure without replacing bits? It's obviously the springs or the shocks.
If I can help it i don't want to replace both, unless I have 2. 100k service is up soon so gotta save my cash for that ;-) |

I have Whitelines on my car, and it makes a loud clunk noise over bumps at low speeds. John from Wheels World said WRX's have this tendancy to do that, especially from the rear left (which is exactly where mine is coming from!).
