Really? An EBC will hold boost till redline? A TD04L is 14.5 psi I would set a dual stage at 14 and 16psi

Maximum I would go is 16.5psi with fuel pump, air filter and exhaust and more than that and you should look at the up-pipe and a new turbo IMO.

Its funny how the more you learn about cars the less you ask forums due to all the crap answers. I just ring up tuners and workshops these days.

To be honest, I would not bother about boosting it up to 14.5psi or 16psi or even buying an eBC unless you are having boost control issues. Save the money and spend it on a tune. Do it properly the first time. Running the car with a full exhaust system untuned will not ruin the car. You only run the chance of overboost on extremely cold days or high load situations and that's only if you boot the daylights out of it in these conditions, which would throw a CEL (which goes away after 5 starts in the GD Impreza). Normal driving, no problems. Spend the money elsewhere.

If you want BFYB modding, save the money and get a GD STI TMIC, VF series turbo, STI 550cc injectors, fuel pump and tune. Guaranteed trouble-free motoring with 180-200awkW. Best part, all these parts bolt on.

That's my 2c worth.

Don't be scared, just do it.
Plenty of people run aftermarket boost controllers everyday and their cars are fine. The Gizmo one mentioned above will be a good buy, or the Turbosmart E-boost street.
Gives the car a little bit more go while you save up for the good stuff.

Waste of money. You will have the coolness of running 1 bar instead of the factory 0.9 bar.

Doubt you would feel the difference.

Save your pennies and get a proper retune of the stock ecu. Best bang for buck you can do on these cars.

Buy a Mac boost solenoid or a Grimspeed boost solenoid and let your ecu handle your boost for you with a retune.
Mine is set at 1.6bar but I only hit 5psi max on daily drives non need to Dual settings waste of time and money imo.

I love this, no one on here has used an aftermarket EBC?
Just do it dude, Get a reputable EBC, not a cheap-cheap one.
Don't go silly with it (boost cut is around 17psi relative)
If your not sure what your doing get somone to help you.
And enjoy the extra go till you can afford the other mods you want.
It will build boost earlier, it will hold boost better
