pretty certain its not, the my99/00 has green plugs & iirc the my97 has white plugs & they are different styles
i have one at my place (not for sale though) you can check out when you come to grab the rotors

MY97 dash itself is completely different shape, plus the wiring is vastly different. MY00 will also be electronic speedo and my97 would likely still be cable. Short answer is yes, but it is certainly not a direct swap by any means and is way more fucking around than anyone in their right mind would do

Looked into this a few weeks back and I can confirm what Jester just said - It will fit with much swearing and chop chop. Better off getting one designed for your year.
