yea, did that.. no significant different in terms of performance, but you get this soft sound when you apply accelerator, like a police car from far away.

do it if you're bored and have nothing else to do on a sunday afternoon.

Yeah I've done it, used 500mm of 90mm PVC pipe, 1 - 90 degree elbow 1 - 45 degree bend, cost about $12 to make, I also put a bellmouth at each end and one at the AFM entrance, could be placebo but after a couple of weeks of the car hunting whilst going up hill slowly the computer seems to have learned to accept more air & the car feels like it has more power, I've tried genuine Subaru & un oiled Nissan filters with no noticable difference. Luckily the Liberty has a nice big vent right where it sucks the air from.

Yeh i did the exact same thing today...and after plenty shagging around, used 90mm pipe with couple of bends and got it sticking down into the guard-near one of the front bumper vents - gonna take her for a roar tonight and see whether it has made any difference. All i noticed so far was a louder "induction-type noise"......as for a performance increase...
