Default removing engine and gearbox out threw bonnnet hole

Hey all.

I am about to undertake the task of removing my engine and gearbox, the box is blown and the motor has done too many k's.

I have sourced another motor and box and my question to you the learned is, can i remove the engine and gearbox out through the top? I have searched and found that the easiest way would be to drop the whole front cradle out, but I do not have a hoist and cant see how i would suspend the front of the car. I have removed many rwd motor/box combinations but I am dubious about the lentgh of the wrx transmission.

Thanks for any advice.

just realised the massive grammar error in my title "THROUGH" the bonnet hole
