Default Making a ECU Patch Cable

Hi guys and gals,

I'm wanting to make (or buy) a patch harness for the ECU so I can plug in the new one without butchering up my existing loom.

Basically, I need plugs to suit MY98 ECU (female type) and GD Subaru (male type).

Is there anywhere to purchase just the plugs to make this all nice and neat? Or any other solution people can think of?

Apexi do a straight through harness like this, so there must surely be a manufacturer of the plugs for me to wire up?

Something like this, but with the GC8/GD plugs.

Cheers,

buy two and we splice them together

one for GC version 4, one for GD

this is what we did on matt's & mine.

with a decent ecu, you allocate the pins per function anyway

Yeah worst case is to buy 2 and splice.

My inner tight ass doesn't like this though, so seeing if I can just buy the plugs. I think I have found them out of the UK, but would be nice if they are available local through RS or something.

Butcher an old loom and dead ECU to make your own. Should at least be cheap.

Thanks for that Simon.

But I have had Richard at Auto Sport Wiring make me a custom harness up to combine my MY98 to GD ECU interface.

If anyone needs anything like this doing, or a straight through patch that you can tap into for other wiring needs (avoiding the need to hack up your own harness), Richard is the man to speak to. Great communication and fast turnaround.
