Default Ignition

Hi guys,

i have a 03 STI. I have a problem when my car sits in the sun for a period of time. when i go to start it car doesnt start sometimes. i usually have to push start it to get it started again. Engine light comes up for a bit and disappears the day after. ive had subaru do a fault test on it and they cant find anything wrong! its not the starter motor so im really frustrated as to what it could be.
please if someone might have a solution? please let me know. thanks

When you say wont start do you mean, turn over and not start or wont turn over, as in like you have a flat battery?

Crank angle sensor.

They heat load and fail. Hence, the car will turn over but won't start.

I had a similar issue with my car where it would not start (got a CEL) and sometimes at idle the rpm would drop and run rough (again CEL) I eventually managed to get the CEL code and it turned out to be a cam angle sensor wiring.

From memory it was cam angle sensor A, which is in the plastic timing belt cover next to the battery. It was the wiring to the sensor which was the issue & I could have the car idling in the driveway, just touch the wiring and the car would start to act up.

This may not be your issue, but I just thought I would share my experience to a similar issue I had

Is your fuel pump priming when your turn the ignition key to ACC?

If a cel light comes up then the fault should be stored at least in the history section!
