Default My01 bug eye turbo upgrade?

Hey guys I recently got a MY 01 bug eye as my first wrx and have been loving every minute of it... Bought it with a tbe otherwise stock and since then have made the following mods:
Walbro fuel pump
Ecutek tune
Cold air intake
New up pipe
Advanti rims

Am getting about 152kw atw but am looking for a bit more..... Just wanted to see what kind of turbo would be best to upgrade the stock one with? VF 35? And maybe sti top mount will give it a little more kick?

Use the search function , there's a whole sticky thread that explains all the turbo options for you and yes a sti top mount is a good idea, look into twin scroll turbo set ups if you want good top end and good response.

I will be taking this path with my MY01 WRX

1. Intercooler upgrade. An STi TMIC is the advised path as it has less lag. Mine came with a FMIC so I'll push that as hard as I can for a bit.

2. Cold Air intake - either a good quality Apexi panel filter matched up with the removal of the restrictor in the guard panel or a proper CAI that extends the intake pipe into the guard panel where its met up by a ducting pipe that gets cold air from the front of the bumper, thats probably the best path IMO.

3. Your stock injectors should be ok from what I've been told - MY99 on have uprated 400+ cc injectors. - could look into uncapping them *search is your friend*

4. Fuel Pump is a MUST - Walbro is fantastic - not a hard install.

5. Up-pipe/TBE setup

6. TD05 or VF34/35 Turbo and all required bits "both are bolt on just double check oil/water lines"

7. New oil, full tank of fuel and a spare $1000 - $1500 for either a Verso or EcuteK tune/dyno.

^^ sums it all up

i dunno what's with all these bug eye posts lately, but a really good time to use the search function instead of making a new thread for each persons 'upgrade advice' which is usually very similar anyway

Indeed - but I'll side with the noobs a *little, the search often throws up some random stuff and its all a bit much when your just starting out. Gotta make people feel welcome.
^ guys only got 3 posts cant go flaming away or the club will fade away.

Use this link: Perth-WRX.com - Search Forums

And this Link: NASIOC - Search Forums

Search away and read everything you can, Ive had 4 turbo charged subarus and I still use those two links almost every 2nd day.

just a suggestion tbh
if i didn't want to make him feel welcome i'd say something along the lines of "search or gtfo"

If he's got an ecutek tune he should only really be asking these questions to his tuner who will advise on what is most suitable for his application.

Jordiee: nah that wasnt a flame, was just saying..

And yep - these questions should only be answered by your tuner after searching multiple forums for hours on end, deciding what you want and dont want - your the one driving the car remember - not the tuner. read up and look into what you want but as stated above - the tuner who does the EcuteK tune will be your number one man for any questions.

+1 talk to the tuner of the car and you realy have to research this your self, Turbo's are horses for couses and this is where the search function will help, Most members post gains they have made from the mods they have carried out.
How much boost are you running at the moment?
How much more power do you want?
