Quote from Oversteer

Comparing a Nissan axel to a Subaru axel is like chalk and cheese !

After cutting up machining and welding the material the 2 are made from it is plain to see the superior quality of the steel the Nissan stuff is made from.
Every Subaru CV I`ve rebuilt has had hardening damage(slight to considerable) in the cups...hi Km Nissan CV`s do not seem to exhibit this....way harder steel !
So the Nissan stuff solves the CV issue with Subaru stuff, and the axel size of Subaru stuff(governed by the smallest point, CV axel bar spline) is just too small to work with, billet or not !

To hybrid the axels I cut the Subaru inner&outer spline and ~15-35mm(inner-outer) off the cup and then welded this to the Nissan cups(with the Nissan spline/tabs removed and cup machined to mate of course)
Cup length and bulk as it turned out had to be that way to make the Nissan axel long enough to suit GD track Subaru rear end, clearance to the sub frame and bottom of the struts was needed also to fit the huge CVs.

Big thanks to Ron/Flash and his spaghetti eating mate Frank with an engineering shop for the sexy welds and all the stuffing around to help produce this one off set.

Anyway now I`ve found the next weak link in the Subaru driveline...6 speed and yes its my fault for being abusive(trying to test the strength of the rear axle) and using good tyres....tyres make all the difference, mainly to life and death ! I`ve tried to use <$200 tyres ..cause I`m just going to kill them and do skids and stupid shit anyway !, but then after a few close calls I decided I wanted to stay on the road and in control of the car...4 wheel drift not hockey stick !

Time to install the Rigoli Auto....(just shits me that I know I can kill this also...has its weak points !, not a high k long term solution apart from not being a streetable thing anyway !)

I wasn`t upset to start with after breaking the 6 speed but god damn it subaru money pit ffs likely smashed $$$ of constant mesh gear set ! 6 speeds are not unbreakable in many ways ! After you get a 2.5 to push 700+fwhp on pump fuel reliably you`d think ...ahh I don`t know what to think !/rant

quote from oversteer
Cut and shut Subaru spline onto 2 long side R32/33 Skyline axels & CV`s

Required use of a precussive device to clear subframe & struts

Massive CV`s and shafts compared to Subaru R180 gear, at least twice the wieght too, time(/destructive testing) will tell if they do the trick !
