Default BC coilovers height adjustment [can't adjust rears] help

Hi guys,

I've done a search but no success.

So I've run into a bit of a pickle trying to adjust my suspension height. I've managed to adjust the fronts no worries but I'm having a bit of trouble on the rears.

To my knowledge, to adjust the height:
1. Tighten lock rings A & B together.
2. Loosen lock ring C.
3. Turn lock ring A only to adjust the coilover height. In doing this, the entire shock/threaded component should rotate.

Step 3 is where I'm having the issue. Every time I rotate lock ring A, the threaded/shock component remains still. Instead, only lock ring A turns and all that does is adjust the spring length/tension.

Any ideas fellas?

Cheers,
Tin

All 3 steps sound correct to me. By compressing the spring, you should have body lift? There's 2 ways of height adjustment, spring compression and extending the strut stem. You need to lock nuts A and B hard onto the strut so that it bites in. To raise the hight you will have to turn nut B counter clock wise, to lower turn nut A clock wise. Nut C is only to lock the strut stem once adjustment is completed. It might help to pre clamp the spring to take load off for easier turning of nuts A & B.

I did my coilovers on Friday and had the same problem with a couple of them. For me it was because I hadn't locked the two top rings together tight enough.

I was under the impression that all height adjustments should be done via the strut stem and not via spring adjustments (or at least according to this guide I found: Adjusting BC Coilovers (Lowering Ride Height))). I find it strange because all the height adjustments made on the fronts were done using lock ring A with no issues.

Hmm I tried tightening up the two top rings really tightly but then I couldn't turn the very top ring (A) at all =/

Lock the two top rings as tight as possible by turning them in opposite directions to each other then start turning ring B (not A) to adjust the height. This should move the damper up and down in the bottom bracket.

Alrighty I'll give it a crack.

Just found this diagram which also says to adjust via the middle ring if raising the height.

Cheers for the help fellas. I'll let you know how I go.

Haven't had a chance to play around with it yet and probably won't be able to until later next week. Just no time at the moment

So ring C is locked onto the shaft of the shock, or it spins freely?

No, C ring remain loose, only A & B are locked together. C is to lock the strut arm onto the base after height adjustment have been completed.
