Default BOV Problems

Hi guys,

Recently purchases a used HKS BOV from one of the members off here. Its the first HKS BOV i beleive.

Anyhow... I removed the old one, plugged the recirculating hose, put the HKS on put the other hose on the other end of the bov (with an adapter to make it small enough). And now my car cant really boost and makes a very VERY high pitched whining noise when boosting and goes pretty much no where.

Checked everywhere for air leaks, couldnt find a thing?

btw car is a 2004 sti.stock besides TBE verso tune and CAI.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! cheers guys.

you have a leak somewhere or your bov spring isnt set tight enough and is leaking

yes you need to keep the piston closed while on boost, you may find the spring is stuffed but try tightening it first

yeh put the gasket back when i switched the BOV from recirculating to atmos.

Blocked up the recirculating hose, tightended the spring AND STILL getting the highest pitched whining noise with pretty much no boost when the car is trying to spool up. when car is in neutral and revved the BOV works fine.

Any chance that if i didnt block up the recirc hose properly that this coud be the issue? I used one of those hose clamps that you tighten with the screw in it, as the other clamp broke when i was taking it off.

great. just put the stock bov on assuming it was an issue with the hks one. and NOW im getting that same high pitched whining noise when boosting with the stock one on! so obviously i mustve torn a hose or theres an air leak somewhere from when i installed the hks.. but theres nothing i can find!
