Seagull has a very low K H6 out of a 06ish GT? Liberty with full wiring harness and computer for sale for around $1,500 or you could try to get hold of Paul on AUSubaru.com Forums - Powered by vBulletin "user name RSR555" he may have a spare motor if yours is shagged, hopefully just a hose.

Sounds brilliant.
Though, I think we can all agree that I should get it checked before I start dreaming about what I can do with it. :P
I'll update this thread with any progress.
Thank you all for your help :)

Gave STechnic a call.
They don't really know the SVX too well. Can't blame them, but it kinda takes away from their Subaru Specialist slogan :P
Got quoted $110 an hour for inspection.
Then $300 - $6000 depending on the extent of the damage.
Earliest date I can book the car in is on the 10th of July.

You spoke to Dave, he's very good at what he does (answer the phone, paperwork, make coffee....ok, he's shit at making coffee) but he doesn't work on cars. The guys who work on cars generally don't spend any time on the phone. Rest assured we know the EG33, it's a robust unit and would have needed to be well and truly cooked to do damage. It's not a 6 cylinder EJ22, it has double overhead cam heads and is more like a non turbo 6 cylinder version of the EJ20B. The later EZ30 is not related at all and would be a mammoth task to convert, rule that option right out. I'd like to help you get back on the road if it's a simple matter of repairing a radiator tank and bleeding the cooling system however we are not able to squeeze your car in until the 10th unfortunately.

You know your stuff. :P
I kinda figured that the EZ and EJ swaps would be a pain.
I'll try organise getting the car towed to your place.

If I can teach Dave to make good coffee, will I get a discount? :P

Old dog - new tricks.

Strubaru 04-07-2012 03:06 PM

the fact that dougs even willing to look at is a big plus imho, rare unusual cars like these tend to scare the crap out your average workshop

tow it down there & get him to check it out

Any suggestions on car towing?
STechnic is around 30kkm from my place. Any chance on saving bank would be appreciated.
