Yup, probably the single biggest improvement you can make to bring foward your torque curve and reduce lag.

Cool,

Thank mate.

I'll look into this as I want to change it before I install it.

What is the rating on spring tension?

Saw this mod got done on another few cars in the states as well, cheaper option to a uprated actuator

Hey Tuna,

Another great DIY tip!

I'm sure this is a stupid question but, how much boost would you need to be running for this to be necessary? If the turbo is holding boost ie stable, would increasing the 'clamping force' of the wastgate be required?

Thanks for your patience.

This will improve spool from the beginning, as matt mentioned even on his new vf turbo, it was worth doing.

I did this on my old vf22 and vf34 and made a big difference. Going to try it on the new car with td04

the gains from this are 'uuuuuge!

MY00 wrx, standard td04 and blitz boost controller that was setup by the previous owner. With it set on the highest setting (which was configured for just short of 1.1bar) hit the peak warning set at 1.2 bar... and I didnt even have my foot all the way down!

the second setting which was adjusted pretty close to a stock 1bar, was peaking early and holding 1.1 bar.

Best free mod around! might have to go and fiddle with those settings now before something pops!

Edit: I didnt do the spring part, just shortened the arm
