Default Whine sound on first start of the day?

For about the last 3 weeks i have been getting a whining sound that lasts for about 30 secs - 1 min that only occurs on the first cold start of the day.

Please watch the video to hear the noise:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZ78i...eature=mh_lolz

Also if u listen near the end, the whine drops down a few db's then almost sounds like something turns off?

Any ideas what may be causing this?

2006 WRX
3 Inch TBE, Verso, Walbro Fuel pump (both installed about 6 weeks ago, car was serviced then too)

Cheers

Your going to need to get a reputable work shop to check it out. It could anything from a noisy drive belt idler to a release bearing or spigot bush. If your mechanically minded remove the ac belt because sometimes the ac belt tensioner can make a bit of noise. Very easy to do and its a start.

But If your saying it sorta dulls down or switches off it could even be your secondary air pump(black snail looking thing just behind the battery in the engine bay)

Thanks for the reply, i appreciate the help.

I will have to take it in somewhere to have it checked out i guess. The only problem being that the noise only occurs on the first start of the day. If i sent them this clip would that be enough detail to explain the issue?

No it won't be enough, mainly because it could be any number of things. Best to take it to someone and get them to have a look.

ITs the secondary air system air pump, and its normal. They get a bit noisy when they get old

can not disable as above it is an emisions thing. normally people just replace them.If you disable it you will constantly have an engine on which means no cruise control or anything will work
