Lol

Anyone have a 06-07 wrx with a 18 or 20g willing to let me sit passenger? So I can see how they preform? I'm thinking the best way to decide what turbo would be to see what they can all do right. :-)

I have a Blouch TD05H-18GXT. It's a little laggy (3300rpm for full whack) but its great for what you gain over the TD04 but it may be a bit laggy given you want more low-down without sacrificing response time.

Simplistic comparison:

TD05 makes peak torque (390Nm) @ 3300 and holds a lot of that until redline
TD04 made peak torque (400Nm) @ 2800 rpm and was dead @ 4000rpm.

Before doing No Limits I complained that it did not "kick" hard enough. After doing a few nights at Barbagallo (like tonight for example was a wet track) I can honestly say I am glad it is relatively smooth when on boost. Egg on face to say the least :o

Still kicks plenty hard just not the sort of kill-switch/on-off from a poorly set-up 2L.

As you are after more response over top-end have a look at the Blouch or Tomioka 16G's. I don't think Troy from Prospeed stocks them but he may be able to order one for you.

5-speed will be fine as long as you don't smash through the gears like Vin Diesel or dump the clutch (judging from your posts I highly doubt you drive that way). New transmission fluid if you upgrade the turbo = added peace of mind :) Treat the box well and it will be fine.

Ask Soksta about the way I shift...it's not always pretty but the box is going just fine (90,000kms and counting).

Blouch 16GXT (slightly laggier than the 16G but well worth it imo)

Tomioka 16G

I would like to think those turbo's + STI TMIC + silicone inlet + 3-port BCS + retune = response + more low-down.

Happy modding.

Great feed back Monkeee!

Maybe you can answer this, i noticed that the Blouch 16G-xt 7cm housing flows at 41lb/min and the 18G-xt 7cm housing flows at 43lb/min being so close in flow rate and peak hp wouldnt the 16 be better as it will spool slightly quicker?

Also how does the size of the turbine housing come into play? would a 16G 10cm flow more than the 16G 7cm?

monkeee 13-12-2012 10:45 AM

Haha thanks I wish I could act all smart like and say I knew anything about the flow rates but I dont mate :o

May want to ask Troy from ProSpeed on his thoughts. That or ring up a workshop like MMS/RaceTorque and ask for their opinion.

The humble VF34 is actually an awesome option on the 2.5L's. Dean @ MMS love's them and for good reason (pretty much stock response with a head of mid-range).

Quicker than I do, but a bit more brutal on the box :D

Pulls like a freight train as well!

lol, "it's a little laggy" says he @ 3,300rpm. I'd be stoked with peak torque around 3,500!

Sonic, just get a fucking 18g ball bearing turbo and STFU :)

Lol yeah I'm over researching this shit, no one can really tell what I'll like, I just gotta stick one on and see for myself. I'm just gunna order the blouch TD05 18G-xt / sti tmi / injectors / silicone intake / EBC / coilovers then book into ASG for a retune

TROLLEY 14-12-2012 01:59 AM

Go the XTR dude, ball bearing.

Good point, I hear ball bearing is the fastest spooling and most reliable
