Default Another Brant Thread

I've owned my MY06 for 4+ years now and always wondered what all the Brant fuss was about....

I have always had alarm sensitivity issues with it going off for no reason when opening an unlocked door - and the occasional hiccup that required locking / unlocking car before being able to start, but they were generally few and far between.

Now I think mine is giving up the ghost..... It has cut out completely whilst driving 3 times in the 3 weeks.

Twice on the Mrs at lights (I thought she probably just stalled it and was blaming the car), but then it did it to me whilst I was cruising on 80.

Whats the latest recommendation and whats it going to cost me roughly....?

I want to keep the keypad / anti-hijack if possible. Not so phased on ultrasonic / PIR sensors n stuff.

Cheers,
Kevin

Call action alarms and get the keypad replaced. That is where the problem is. Rest of alarm is ok. Be cautious driving it until fixed. The one I was driving with the problem cut out on me in peak hour traffic with big truck behind me. Nearly got hit. It will only get worse.
Other choice is to put whole new system in.
Good luck, just make a decision quick before she cuts out in a really bad spot.
Cheers

Perhaps also speak to Mao at Evolution R. He will be handy for giving you some choices and can also solve the problem whilst you make up your mind about a permanent fix.

The key pad isn't the problem it's the key pad modual that causes the problems, goto a subaru dealership and get the modual replaced or get the Brant system removed completely

Yer, I rang City Subaru when the wife told me and they want about $800+ and wont guarantee it will fix the issue - said it could also be another brant component. Don't think that included labour either.

Stuff that, it looks like the autowatch route would be more reliable and cheaper to boot.

It wouldn't start for me today after work... Entered the pin but the car just cranked. Turned off, locked doors, unlocked doors and tried again. Did that a few times..... but I couldn't even hear the fuel pump prime.

Will give Mao a call tomorrow

Cheers
Kevin

Good call. Just know though, its about $500 to get keypad replaced. It does fix the issue. Auto watch very good option.

From memory action alarms will pull out the whole system and put in a brand new alarm for around $550. I was already to go that way when I then spoke to Mao and he sorted it out for me.

I should also add that City Subaru provided me with the same pathetic offer of service. The sad part is that it does not include labour and that they will not guarantee that it would fix the problem. To make matters worse, a chat with Brant directly suggested that City were on the wrong suggested fix it route too and had added the best part of 100% markup to the module price. And it also sounded like they arranged an external contractor to come in to undertake the work and would then put additional markup on his rates.

Very poor for a factory supplied alarm.

City's should have offered to find the issue not just quote a part that "might" fix it, I'd just get it removed or get Mao to have a look
