and i assume because you didn't buy a wrx and it's your first car, money was already a factor in choosing your current car so it could end up being a fuckload of cash for no real performance gain, and just a nice sound, which you can enjoy when you eventually buy the wrx you're saving for anyway JUST MY 2 CENTS but if you really want to do it go ahead it's your car and yolo and all that

As RussGT said above, get some Borla headers. They will be the best bang for buck option. I wouldn't wrap/coat them either. They will be fine as they are.
Don't worry about all these people with wrx's saying don't waste your time and money. It's your car, do what you like. Not everyone wants to go fast and is happier with a nice sounding car. |

There is a lot I don't know about motors but -
1. heat insulation for the headers gets more heat energy to the turbo. 2. on a N/A motor, by retaining heat in the headers the only effect will be poorer scavaging on exhaust cycles. So, what is a good mod for a turbo motor will cause a drop in power on a non-turbo motor. Heat wrapping - I have seen reliable sources, ie people on this forum, state that the metal inside the wrapping can corrode and disappear leaving just the wrap. |

i think you're an idiot for getting headers, when you broach a subject on this forum, you can expect loose replies around the subject you introduce. In this case your initial question implied you were installing headers, a couple of us including myself were doing you a favor and made you aware of the drawbacks in your plan. also as you obviously didn't get it, i was taking the piss with yolo and the my two cents part. did you just discover the internet? good luck mate, you've obviously got it all sorted out so i'll defer to your superior knowledge. you might as well heat wrap your cock while you're at it for the good it will do you

If a couple of hundred is out of your budget. I would avoid modifying my car.
1. Insurance premium increase 2. Cost of parts 3. Installation cost of parts 4. Re-installation cost when the flanges on some cheap headers starts to leak 5. Cursing and moaning that the car doesn't run right 6. Re-installing the factory items to get the car happy 7. Trying to sell cheap headers on gumtree If you want noise, stick some holes in your muffler with a screwdriver. Cheap and effective.
