Exclamation IHI VF24 Turbo rebuild/service? Possible??

Hello all,

Part of my upgrades i'm looking for some one to re-build my IHI VF24 turbo i have. It's in good nick.. I just want peace of mind before i put in in.

But so far trying to find some one to rebuild it.. People so far have said you CAN'T re-build them at all?? Is this true? If so.. is it the same for the VF29 too??

Thanks everyone.

T.

from all reports the reason they are considered a throw away item is that it costs as much to rebuild them as it does to buy a new one
GTB Liberty and MY00GC8 like this.

Yep.. Your totaly right...

Now i think i need to look for a New VF24, VF29 or VF34. From my reading they all have the P18 exhaust... so are very simular to each other..

Anyone have an comments on this?

Thanks again!

New, you will only get a VF34 at a decent price.

Have you got a 2 or 2.5 litre motor? VF34 w/ p20 would be perfect budget turbo for 2.5litre. P18 is best for 20x engines from what I read.

Read this to work out the differences between the turbo's you listed:

It's only a 2L EJ20GN motor... Will i have to spec a P18 exhaust ? I think they only came with a P18?

Thanks,

T.

If its not broken, why do you want to rebuild it?

Outside looks fine.. But i can't see inside it.. Just like how you normally rebuild brake callipers before you put them on if there second hand. For piece of mind.
