the fact that the oem ones are smaller so they are further away from the headers is the no brainer part for me

Well the Ryco Z436 one I fitted is the same size as the Geniune Subaru Filters... |
Z436 is the wrong filter for your car.
|
Yep Z495 for a Bug eye. I now don't know why you would have changed it from a Z495 to a Z436 to start with?
I think i have only ever seen 1 Ryco filter leak in my career! |

I think i have only ever seen 1 Ryco filter leak in my career!
Because I was searching online and a few sources said to fit the Ryco Z436!!? as it was the same size as the Geniune Subaru Filter which it is. Those Z495 are a fair bit bigger than the Geniune Subaru and Z436 and sit a lot closer to the exhaust Heres just one source I used in gathering info on what ryco filter to use on the Subaru http://justjap.com/store/product.php?productid=17883&cat=&page=1 |
Ive now only just rechecked the car again tonight = this filter leaks oil too!!!??? I don't know what the problem is?, its a Geniune Subaru Filter that I installed a week ago.
|
maybe its not the filter? take it to a workshop and get them to look at it if you cant work it out
|
Its starting to look like I might have to take it somewhere, I can usually sort such things out no bother but this has me stumped??
|
Either the thread on the oil filter housing is stripped or like I said the oil cooler o ring is leaking. Maybe be something worse like a cam or crank seal leaking down the timing cover and Onto the oil filter

I looked again at that and its definitely not leaking from higher than the Oil Filter itself, all that area is still dry as . The Thread on the housing looked fine to me when I checked it before installing the Subaru Filter.. |
