Default Help please! Gearbox won't come off!

currently trying to replace the clutch on the Liberty RS (running a Legacy box - 4.44 from memory) and have come across the issue of the box not wanting to come off the block.

one of the "locator pins" on the passenger side have bell shaped outwards and I'm guessing that's the stem of the problem, although I cannot be completely sure... however, all bolts and nuts have come off, consulted the service manual and have not been able to come to any conclusions. if anyone can provide suggestions or more info, that would be great.

cheers

"Behind where the starter was, just in front of the slave cylinder is a plug with a hex for a 10mm Allen key, undo this, then use an M6 bolt screwed into the end of the shaft behind where the plug was to pull out the shaft, this is essential to avoid damaging the clutch release system. "

Done this? From memory this is the snag a lot of people run into.

How do you remove a gearbox from a 99 subaru impreza wrx

not sure what this means? but yeah once you've disengaged the clutch fork use large flat bladed screwdrivers on either side (at the dowel locations) to gently pry the box from the engine

Mate, the photo above does NOT show the said clutch fork pin at all. it is further to the right...

If you have taken the clutch fork pin out and start trying to separate the box from the engine just be careful not to put too much much weight on a small part of the casing or you will break some off.

clutch fork pin has already been removed. the issue I'm having is the "pin" that is towards the centre of the image. the "pin" seems as though it has flattened on the visible side, which is why the box cannot be removed. it moves about 1mm off the block on the passenger end, and about 10mm off from the driver side. so I'm assuming the issue is there. the shaft for the clutch etc has all been removed with an M6 bolt.

that's a locater, they get seized quite regularly,
soak it in some crc or similar, get a pry bar under the box and pop it out, it will come eventually

If the pin has been "flattened" it will just pull out from the engine side and be left in the gearbox housing... it will come out
