i blew 2nd the other week,fukn load noise.I got my box stripped done but 2nd gear was stripped and destroyed mainshaft etc.I ended up getting a full recon box from Subiworx.At least with the recon box you know it will last for a while,you don't realy no with a low k box.

well news is a chip on second and the mainshaft, need to replace 1st 2nd andthe main, lookin at 3500 all up, i may as well get a recon g/box, any other suggestions???

paul, 2nd hand box will set you back around 1500 (relatively low ks), add clutch, 600 odd and labour to pull out and put back, around 600, still under 3000.
but the positive with a recon is that you know what you're getting is new

I would go with the same option as Joe. Your better off spending the extra for PPG straight cut if you have to spend a large amount to rebuild the box.

yeah im pretty sure now im gonan go wit a staright cut ppg set for 1-2nd gears, costs a lil more but at least i know i prolyl wont break it again, be good for when i get into racing and stuff as well and when i add mods to the cra that increase power.

well this thread is certainly inspiring me to be extra nice to my box... lol dont have a spare 3k sitting around for replacement bits !

actually im nice to cars anyways... just have to ensure that those certain other ppl *looks at Dan* are also nice to the box and dont forget its not an STi one hehehe

i know!!! neither do i, im payin for half of it, adding to my loan for the rest, just means longer to pay off my beast

getting ppg gearset btw, setting me back 4.1k

4.1k all up fitted. 1st and 2nd gear wit a new mainshaft and synchro hub.
