Default Help needed with airbox (with pics)

the MY06 STI i just bought has a CAI (see pic 1) and i'm going back to the stock airbox

I disconnected the clamps in the join but the stock pipe that runs to the airbox doesn't fit the metal joiner currently poking out of the intake pipe(see pic 2)

question is where can i get a joiner that will fit.. and what size do i need? had a look at autopro, supercheap, repco and couldn't find anything.

thanks

don't like the induction noise - sounds like a BOV
plus there's nothing stopping dirt/rocks/water being sucked into the pod filter and dont want the engine to blow up

Yes there is - the inner fender liner stops the crap reaching the pod filter, the stock air box pulls it's air from the same place any way.

Unless you still have the resonator box (aka Snorkus) that sits in the guard, the stock air box is going to make the same sound.

The black stock intake hose will stretch over the stainless adapter you already have (take the clamp off it and work it on there - it's a tight fit).

Thanks rossco. The fender lining is missing too. Don't know why someone would remove it? I've ordered replacement lining from subaru. And yeah i've got the resonator..cheers

Ah ok. Yeah cost 70 bucks for new liner from subie so pretty cheap. I'm not sure if I'll need a retune but it's probably better to be safe than sorry so i might just install the liner for now and leave the airbox til I can book in for a retune...

You won't really need a re-tune, the car might run a poofteenth richer with the stock intake back on it (slightly more restriction with the stock box/filter set up).

Simon it may be worth taking the car over to MMS and get Daniel to plug in and check the numbers just for peace of mind. It may well require an adjustment to the tune. Don't know what happened to the guard liner cos it was definitely in there when I sold the car...MMS can order you one.
