You can buy a special tool for tightening up the clamps. It is about $25 from repco or covs. Extremely simple to use and makes the job full pro.

Also on the evo (i assume the wrx is the same) you are meant to do the 32mm nut up to 250nm otherwise you will get pad knock off, uneven brake pad wear and premature wheel bearing issues... Been there done that....

CV boots are $9 from Vaele or $14 from Auto One...

Replaced 3 in 2 weeks now!

Also, would it be easier to undo the castle nut at the bottom instead of prying out the joint?

I think its about the same, but I have never tried it. Do whatever you feel is easiest I guess!

Nice post .. i need to replace all 4 up front again and after paying $140 each last time i wont be going to the stealer ship again😅😅😅

no. Quite often the joint will spin before the nut spins and it makes getting it apart troublesome. much better to unto the retaining bolt and remove the whole joint from the knuckle.
