Thread seal on bleeders?
I'm wondering if anyone here uses thread sealant on their brake caliper bleeders? I've got brembo brakes and when I was bleeding them I noticed some small amount of fluid seeping from the threads. I also noticed a constant stream of micro-bubbles coming out the bleed nipple that happens maybe 5 or so seconds after cracking the bleeder open.
From reading around the internet, it appears that some air gets sucked in through the threads when the bleeders are cracked open. Some people suggested to smear grease around the bleeder before bleeding (and wiping it off after of course) and some people suggest thread sealant or even teflon tape. Comments? The bleed screw have a tapered end on them. When closed this should make a seal on the body of the caliper. If they are leaking then the tapered face is not sealing properly.
Thread sealant should not be used.
