Default ecu reprogramming?

hi guys, if i change my aftermarket ecu in my gc8 to a second hand stock ecu from another car. will i need the key to be reprogrammed?

If its an AUD WRX, yes.

Or change ignition barrell to suit key that goes with the stock ECU you are putting in.

Or fit a v5 sti ecu from a JDM car and you will not need to worry about the key. Patch has a v5 ecu JDM unit for sale in the forsale section. Worthy upgrade as well

so i put in a standard ecu without reprogramming and it worked fine

Did you have to swap the cam & crank wires over?

If not it's a JDM ecu.

i ended up trying an adm ecu first and it worked. so i didnt have to fork out for the more expensive jdm unit

ADM WRX ecu has an immobilizer

JDM WRX & STI ecu's do not.

if your car is starting then you have fitted a JDM WRX ecu (or an STI one)
