So the Ultrex shifter...is it a short throw shifter or a shorter stick??

Having not owned one I am making an assumption but It will most likely be just a shorter stick and not the short shift assembly.

The short shift assembly requires a revision of the engineering of the shifter assembly.

Just a smaller length stick that goes in place of the OEM one.

As you can see, the Ultrex short shift just replaced the long shaft on the oem shifter assembly with a shorter (shorter throw) shaft.

i have abrand new STI short shifter for sale in the FOR SALE section. If your interested, it is a complete lever assembly as in the pic above. the pivot is in a different position, which changes the length of the throw.
The priniciple is the same in the Ultrex one, except it is not a complete assembly.
The pivot point on the Ultrex one is very high, even compared to the STi short shifter, so it would be a shorter throw, but the lever would be close to the same length.
Can't beat genuine parts though

I had the Kartboy short shifter and bushings on mine.
It reduces both throw distance as well as the height of the gear knob.

Didn't notice any increase in noise or anything like that either.
