Clutch

Hey all,

Just recently I picked up my new clutch, and I'm wanting to learn how to do a clutch changeover.
Was wondering if anyone has done a clutch swap over before and is willing to give me a hand and some guidance on how to go about this changeover ? Would be much appreciated!!

And if anyone has a hoist available would it be possible to use for a day ?:)

Looking at doing it in the next week or so and there will be a carton of you're choice as a very big thank you as well, and if you're not a drinker there will be $$$ for you're help.

Cheers all:)!

Digging up an old one rather than making a new one.

What's the toughest organic clutch that is still daily-liveable, that will bite hard, without going a noisey twin plate, or a button. Was looking at an Exedy HD - (FJK-7350HD) to suit a spec-C 6 speed.

It's kind of like finding the perfect brake pad for daily/track which turned out to be (for me) the PmU HC800.

I'm getting a new clutch also, I've read up and it seems the Exedy HD kit is a good choice. That's what I'm going for. Be careful about your suppliers though because a lot of online places advertise the correct top level part no. (FJK-7350HD) but the actual component breakdown with individual part no's are the exact same parts from the standard non HD kit (FJK-7350). I contacted exedy to get a genuine parts list for the HD kit and i will attach the screen clip of the email.
- btw this was for my MY04 STi GDB double check your getting the correct one for your model.

Clutch

I have heard great feedback from a couple of guys using the stage 2 and stage 3 organic competition clutches. Would have gone this way myself except that that found an Xtreme ceramic at a deal too good to refuse.

Yeah, Comp Clutch are based out of O'Connor. Plus look at who re-sells them, says it all really.

my exedy cusion button is a blast to drive ! harsh as fuck if you miss judge the take off but such a pleasure to drive and out of the track its even better :)

as far as changing the clutch its relatively easy if you have a hoist but from hearing stories of a few mates on jack stands its not hard either :) good luck with it mate !

I run a stage 2 comp clutch and lightened flywheel combo . Holds up well to Motorsport , good friction point . Smooth engagement and no shudder. Has been on the car for 18 months .

I'm just looking for a daily drive level clutch, no track use. But at the same time i didn't just want an OEM replacement and also didn't want to go for something way over the top, i think the exedy HD is a good option for someone like myself. What suppliers/garages are you guys purchasing/installing your clutches from? cheapest I've sourced for the FJK-7350HD was $765 @ veales in Redcliffe
