Remembering our Aus spec WRX is 8:1
my03 wrx is 9:1

Im quite sure the 99-00 WRX was 8.5:1 while the 99-00 STI was 8.0:1

K double checked and I am incorrect.

8.0:1 on both the MY99-00 STI and WRX.

9.0:1 on 03+ wrx.

yep editted my post as well...just shows there are so many options.

BTW has anyone got any first hand experience from fitting a VF** series on a vanilla model MY03 or later 9:1 compression engine? You would think it could pull some pretty good numbers if you could keep it from pinging?

tuna 02-07-2006 03:06 PM

8.5:1 on the 02+ EJ207

Perfourmance built my short block... oldest 2.5 in perth and its an N/A 2.5 liberty block originally... they basically made it a closed deck machine.

wheres jmes engine for sale?

trainwrex 15-03-2007 08:33 PM

Depending on how competent and honest your mechanic is will determine how many unforseen circumstances you encounter. If you choose your mechanic carefully these problems can be kept to a minimum...its the second engine rebuild within a year that hurts

That is RIGHT on the money, there are several builders out there that dont know what there doing (speaking from experience).

Imo if u want to rebuild a EJ20, u might as well just buy a new sti short block that comes standard with forged pistons. Why fork out all that extra money, when u could have a workshop fck it up and you loose out. The EJ207 will take all the abuse u could throw at it.
