just bought an MY02 STI - needs engine rebuilt :(
Hi Everyone,
just purchased an my02 sti that sadly requires an engine rebuild. Its currently at a performance shop and got qouted 4k for the full rebuild and installation. My question i guess would be what i should do to it while the engine is out in terms of mods. Performance wise. I do feel that the 2.0l engine without boost is not that powerful. So could anyone recommend a smart path to modding this so that it has better low end torque and overall better pull? I dont want to boost it like crazy or add an extra big turbo to it to achieve ridiculous HP numbers as i do plan to daily drive this. I would like to somehow keep up with my mates r34 GTR but remain civilised and easy to live with. Any suggestions from previous experiences etc. Since this is my first wrx or turbo car in general i would just like to pick everyone's brains here in the smartest and most effective path to take while doing this engine rebuild. I dont want to destroy the engine or anything either so i do want to be careful. Also does it require a tune regardless after all this work is done? I hear its another 1k for tuning regardless of where you take it. Thanks guys in advanced. Really appreciate everyone's thoughts and suggestions. Been saving p for this car for 10 years and finally got her - but want to do it right. Cheers, M |
