Default Worth upgrading intercooler?

Gday guys
I own a Version 6 STi with a 3" TBE, Walbro fuel pump and an Autronics PCM. Its been dyno tuned for 155awkw at Maximum Motorsport.
Im just wondering, with all the heat lately i have really noticed the extra lag brought on by the summer heat. Is it worth upgrading the stock intercooler for a later model. I have been told fitting the larger MY10 intercooler is a cheap option, or is it worth forking out for a process west cooler. Im not too interested in a front mount as I want to retain the stock VF28.
Will it decrease intake temps and net me any power. Im sorry, my turbocharged experience is limited.

Greater cooling and turbos, regardless of ambient temperature, will ALWAYS be a benefit.
Both for longevity, flow, boost drop off, and power.
MY00GC8 and amtrapid like this.

I'm currently having a GDB intercooler placed in my gc8 sti. Last week or so I've noticed the heat really having an effect on my car too. I've heard the processwest TMIC suffers from heatsoak. I think given the weather lately, you just have to drive like a granny...

As Neil said, if the tmic is not restricting poer, a diy water spray is a cheaper option.

Thanks for the advice guys. I wouldnt mind a little more power (would love to hit that magical 200awkw mark but dont think it would happen with a VF28, would nice to be close though.
I never noticed it much last summer but this year.... yeah lag gallore.
