Default Different batteries

I've noticed in some gd chassis wrx they have different spec batteries - either the larger 55D23 with standard-size terminal posts or the smaller NS40ZL with the small terminal posts.

The difference in the CCA is substantial.

Anyone shed some light on why Subaru would equip some cars with the smaller battery?
