Default click, click, click - Houston we have a problem

Hi all,

After a spirted driving session a few weeks ago, I am having problems starting my car. At 1st I thought it was a flat bettery. After I had jump started it I drove for an hour or so to charge the battery (odessey red top battery) I came home turned car off and tried to start. *wait for fuel pump to prime, cel go on and off x2... click* Seems like it's not turning over.

Anyone know what could be the cause? Starter motor or alternator?

..it might still be the battery not holding charge.

How old is the battery, I found my oddessy died near on 2 years, then again it was a baby one? Anyway the problem maybe a bad earth as this is what happened to me after installing a new Optima battery in the boot. The earth that caused me the problem was the earth on the engine/manifold the big black cable with the thin yellow strip.

you sure fuel pump is fine ? any jerkiness (sp?) under hard acceleration or boost when you were driving it etc ?

As I had all the same symptoms then looked at the fuel pump and turned it thats what was dead

Thanks for the help lads!

Its a new battery so I am not sure if that could be the cause - optima red top battery. No jerkiness under hard acceleration but I will check the fuel pump.

I will look out for all these things and if I found the problem I will post my findings for future reference.

Thanks yet again!

I had a similar problem a while back. Turned out that a "nut" had come loose from where the alternator sits (under that red plastic cover) and the charge was therefore not being given to the battery.

Good luck.

OR the battery could of just dropped a cell due to the cold weather and long time between using the car
