Default Differences between MY06 B25 STi Heads & MY07 V25B STi heads?

Hey Guys,

Does anyone know the differences between MY06 B25 STi Heads & MY07 V25B STi heads? Will everything bolt up the same once dropping into a MY06 STi or are there things I will need to address. I dont want to get caught out when installing my new engine.

Cheers

I could be wrong on this but I think the B25 heads were the earlier type with the cam angle sensor bracket At the front. Whereas the the V25B heads had the cam position sensors at the back of the heads reading from grooves or lugs at the back of the cams.

As said I'm not entirely sure but it's ringing a bell for some reason.

Aren't all AUDM hawkeyes the USDM MY07s....just thinking that it is possibly the MY06 spoken of in the USA which came with the VF39 and probably had those b25 heads which never made it to Aus? Not sure about what I'm saying but I'm intrigued to find out if that would be the case

I think I've managed to clarify. I was partly right. The B25 was the earlier EJ257 head the V25B is the latter. They have different cooling passageways and each need a different head gasket design. Ignore what I said about the cam angle sensor I got that bit wrong. I'm still reading up on this so I'll post what I find.

Ok, each head will fit and work you just need to make sure you have the correct head gasket for the type of head you're using. I'd be surprised if you have the B25 heads because I think they were for pre 2006 USDM cars as RJ has said.
