Default Car alarm not responding to remote

I parked my car up at my parents house to avoid driving it with a failed Ringland. This was only a week ago. This morning the alarm sounded and there was no one near the car, windows were all up and the car locked.

Attempts to turn the alarm off with the key remote didn't work. I also tried the spare key and then even replaced a remote battery just in case. Still no luck. The alarm kept going off and would cycle through a minute or two cycles.

In the end I had to disconnect the car battery.

I have bought the battery home and put it on charge but wanted to ask if people have experienced this kind of problem before. I am hoping that it is just low main battery voltage that is causing the issue and that putting in a charged battery may solve the issue.

It is a Brandt.

Any tips would be appreciated. Car is an 08 Sti.

Not nit picking, but isn't 08+ the Sigma branded modules?

I am not really sure what brand is written on the module but it has the usual Brandt keypad.

Odyssey PC680 - 7kg Jetski battery from Batteryworld around $250.

I've been running an equivalent Fullriver HC20 battery for nearly two years.

Not bad. I have kind of wanted an excuse for one of those batteries. Sick of the recent two year battery issues.

I only drive twice a week so every six weeks or so I run it on a trickle charger to freshen it up.

I am pretty much the same so the battery doesn't get a lot of charging. With a failing engine and me wanting to minimize use I can imagine that it would have ran flat.
