Default New DriveShaft

Hey Guys,

I've diagnosed a knocking/squealing noise as a CV joint problem on my MY04 STi with 123000kms, doubt it's just the boot that's going to need fixing, probably a rebuild needed on the cv or a new drive shaft altogether. Does anybody have any experience or recommendations of where to go or how much I'm going to pay for it. It's getting put in to a dealership garage for a sched. service Wednesday ill post back with an accurate breakdown of what they've diagnosed

TYI

EDIT: I found a video on you tube that describes the sound 110% accurate; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLNk_qhC2kw

Brett Allan knows their stuff
Default

1. Cancel the dealership service
2. Take to any workshop from the "workshop" thread on here - ASG, MMS, Racetorque, Stechnic, Bluestar
3. They will diagnose and repair for half what a stealership will charge.

The thing is i want to keep the logbook servicing at a Subaru dealership, I'm only going to let them do the regular service tasks [because they actually beat prices from garages for me] and then just a checklist for the rest, following that I'll head to blue star as I live in the Joondalup area, and get the work done there. Also a free hire car from the dealership in the meantime is a big thing for me as this is my daily/only car. But if its cheaper to go to one of those workshops and pay for a hire car then It's a no brainer.

Out of curiosity, that sound that you mentioned, did it sound like a tool, like a spanner or something hitting the chassis from inside the cab? Especially when going over bumps
