stock replacements

or ppg billet shafts

one is easy and cheap to do, and the chances of you lunching shafts numerous times isn't high

ppg shafts = $

a set of STi ones is an upgrade to your stock standard WRX ones - ok if you don't do too much hardcore motorsport or launch

probably around 500-700 depending on where you look (front set, left&right)

I don't think theres an actual size difference, or differnece in the cv joints with the sti gear, not to mention that the sti is a 6 speed box, so the shafts are probably different lengths to the 5 speeds...

You're right PPG don't make shafts anymore, I get a local guy to do them at speedworks now after PPG stopped producing them full stop.

STi shafts from a five speed box you'll find at Jap Wholesale Spares in wangara, if you buy two sets, so you have one backup just incase, it may get you a discount on each one... i think from memory i paid around $300 for a set of second hand one's out of a half cut... haven't had an issue since, but have a spare set just in case anyways

I replaced the front driveshafts on the hatch with Version 8 STi. There was a size difference, by how much no idea. But you had to modded it slightly to all the bits and pieces that hang off it would fit.

RMS did mine, Andy can probably answer this.

i just use stock replacements,

believe me unless you upgrade to a full R180 rear and 6 speed there is no point upgrading shaft diameters as you can still bust the joint either side of the CV (both inside the diff and inside the hub)

No.

Its not THAT hard to install, and if you can pick up a pair for $300, then $550 for one is a bit excessive.
