Ver 5/6 STi AIT sensor wiring location
Gday
Just noticed tonight that my air intake sensor cable is disconnected.... how long for? I dont know? How ever it may explain why my car has been running very rich. I have attached a photo of the cable im looking for. Anyone with a V5/6 could you trace your cable and see exactly where it comes from so i can find it (i have not been able to find it at all) Pics would be much appreciated also Photo attached.

I used a JDM STI V6 ECU on my WRX for a while there, and the WRX doesn't have this temp sensor at all, so the ECU never got a signal for this.
Monitoring software reported the ECU was seeing the intake temp at that point at -40 deg C, and it never caused a problem. The set up ran mint. 500kms to a tank. No smoke or soot from exhaust. |

The car is an aus delivered V6 so it should have the temp sensor loom. How ever the motor was replaced with a jdm sti motor. So it may have been forgotten about. The standard loom was reused...
I just need someone to guide me to wear the cable comes from

Hey Mate, The ambient temp sensor harness runs from the same loom as the MAF plug.

So i found my air intake sensor.
Its mounted inside the intake (refer to pick 2). Its the new sensor supplied with the autronic ECU. Just curious, i did some reading and most people place it in the TMIC. Does anyone know if this position its mounted in (in the intake manifold) problematic? I also read that with an autronic, the standard maf meter can be removed, how ever, mine is still connected. (refer pic 1) Would it be safe for me to remove the MAF?

My Aus delivered V6 STI loom which previously had an Autronic ECU hooked up was set up much the same as yours, wiring is as pictured. I've been running with it disconnected as I'm back onto a V5/V6 STI flashed ECU, didn't seem to make any difference with it connected.

Thanks Patch... that puts my mind at ease....
Watched a video from MRT stating the importance of these sensors... and started stressing a little. Appreciate the effort with the photos mate.

if your car is running fine. i wouldn't change anything.
Im running autronics smd plug n play 99-00 and the air flow sensor is disconnected and disabled in ECU. |
