What size rim? 245 would be OK on a 8.5inch rim, on stock suspension.

different rims front and rear will be fine provided he uses the same size tyre front and rear, and very similar offsets. Changing a rims width does not change a given tyres diameter. A radial tyres diameter is controlled by the steel belts in its construction and has nothing to do with what rim its stretched over.

but i think trying to fit 10inch rims on any subaru without some very serious suspension, and body mods is gonna be troublesome.

im gonna be putting 18x10/35s with 295/30 on my forester and to do that i reckon i need fully adjustable arms. coils with cambor tops. and 50mm over flares with chopped out fenders and liners. And even then its gonna be tight. the 35 offset is gonna put the wheel just MMs from the coilovers.
