Default Android Head Unit for GH WRX

Hi guys,

I'm trying to gather some info about buying Android HU to fit WRX'12. There are some good write ups on nasioc but I wanted to see if local people have actually tried and tested buying and installing it.

Any suggestion? Thanks in advance.

Last time I looked all the double din units had pretty low screen res. Shouldn't take too long for them to catch up to the tablets.

That's what I'm considering putting in next year, with a bit of a mod... if it works. Not a lot of choice in radios and with android auto for some features you still need to plug in your phone which is a disappointment, I like to keep my phone in my pocket.

Pioneer is good, but a bit expensive and I don't need so many features. I was hoping for something like $300-400 range. They are plenty of ebay knocks off for about $200.

Check out the Kenwood unit in the Supercheap Auto catalogue. That one comes with the cable to mirror and control your android phone from the Head unit and it's roughly $400... It has a good EQ, 3 x 4v pre-outs and HDMI input as well as a whole lot of other stuff.

If you haven't already found something I've been doing some research and found a couple of other options. Carjoying they make full android radios. It's like having a phone in your dash and you don't need to plug your phone in to use half the features and it's very cheap. I'm not sure of the quality though seems worth a shot. Pity pioneer doesn't do something like that.

I'm also looking at odroid you can build your own headunit, maybe a little overly complicated though.
