It is not a matter of offset. Some spoke designs just interfere. I have seen wheel fitment threads in the US where +35 9.5 inch X 18s still need to run spacers.

Yes as said above, spoke designs can interfere. But there are lots of wheels that will fit over Brembo's for the 05+STI....eg OZ, Advan, Rays, Enkei and cheaper brands like Rota. Just specify the fitment or get some advice from a reputable wheel/tyre dealer.
