LPG has a higher RON rating than conventional fuel, think its about the 110 mark, so when properly tuned to suit, you will see a marked improvement..

on a duel fuel setup you won't, in much the same way as bad fuel will make a car run like crap, fuel thats much better than what the car is tuned for will have the same effect..

so if its tuned mainly for 95 ron, adding in lpg and not tuning it to suit will see a downgrade in performance when on lpg..

as for it in a rex, never seen it done, there was a time when they could not get the pressure up to suit efi, and there was also other issues of it having to much pressure and causing the gas to freeze up..

http://www.gaspoweraust.com.au/ are the people you need to speak to, they ran a drag car on lpg, it'd cut 8's so they know what they are on about..

LPG is better if it is a full conversion, not dual fuel as the car will never be tuned correctly to run on higher RON gas (as Denver mentioned above)

LPG may have a higher RON but it has less stored energy than petrol. If you burnt a litre of LPG and a litre of petrol, the petrol burn releases more energy.

Yeah but by the time you pay for it to be converted you will have spent money on what could have been money for fuel!

I don't think it would work out very cost efficient in the end when you add it all up....I could be wrong

Good point Neen.
If you save 50c a litre but use twice as much then work off a saving of 25c per litre.
If you use 70 litres per week then you are saving yourself $17.50 per week.
If it costs $5000 to convert then it would take 285 weeks for you to get your money back. 5 1/2 years.
