Yeah mate.... i think i did get to hooked on figures

I have been out of the wrc scene for nearly 13 years.....
Back then (for some strange reasons) hp readings were different.
The rigoli brothers where running 10.001 secs with 420awhp in 1 car...
11.4 with 340whp in another
And 12.0 with 270whp.

Seems hp figures are suffering inflation lol
Anyone have any idea roughly how much it costs to have engine removed and new one installed.

Just need rough idea to budget the next part of the build.

Needs 5000km run in under 12 psi so will leave the vf28 on it for that

nick73 17-05-2016 10:37 AM

5000km run in?? Why?

VUSSUTE 17-05-2016 10:52 AM

Thats what he recommened

If the engine builder is doing the build and not installing the engine I'd ask him who he recommends to install in order to have his workmanship warranty etc

But in all seriousness if this is a build by someone you know and warranty doesn't worry you due to trusting them etc I'd have a crack at it my self. If you kindly ask I can guarantee you there would be members on here to guide you through it and even lend a hand. I'd happily help out.
If you're not afraid of getting under the car and handy with tools you'll be fine and the experience alone is something that you'll enjoy.
Doing swaps and taking engines out and back in is not that difficult.
It's the best way to learn about your car and when it comes to general maintenance like changing parts you'll be able to do a lot of it your self.
We've all started from somewhere and with the knowledge and help of others it all can come together.

I love the idea of doing it myself and have the mechanical knowledge
For me, the problem is time, as i work away from home the majority of the year.

Ill do it for $1k drive in drive out in a weekend if you want.

Rslib72 17-05-2016 02:29 PM

That's a fair price workshop would be about 1500.....

Bram 17-05-2016 03:04 PM

I aint a workshop. Im a dude in a shed... but yeah. Ive got the tools and the skills.

5000km run in I have never heard of a run in period that long did he give any reasons for that I mean generally it was to bed the rings in for say for the first thousand Kms and don't sit on the freeway at constant speed for long stints ie vary the revs but that was it. For me it would take me at least 6 months to run the engine in on those sort of kms.
