Default My02 STILL overheating

Hey guys! First lost on this forum, hope I've followed all the rules about posting.

I recently bought my new 2002 bug eye Impreza wrx, everything mechanically is perfect until I noticed my temp gauge spiking up and down randomly. I took it to the mechanics and they pressure tested it and had a look at the cooling system, all good except for a bad radiator cap which I replaced- still overheating. Don't think it is HG as no white smoke or other symptoms.
So I went to Subaru in Melville and bought new coolant and a thermostat. Flushed all the coolant out, replaced thermostat and yet it's still overheating. All the fans and cooling system work, no leaks. 2 mechanics have said this. I'm lost... Please help!

Apparently that's fine as well, just so I can check though, what are some signs other than a boiling sound (what I've been told to listen out for)

is it actually going through coolant usually when the hg is gone it will push the coolant in to the overflow bottle and out also check for bubbles with cap off when idling. Or take it to Stechnic in cannington suby specialist will help you out.

The random spiking altho does sound like it needs a good bleed up could be burping air bubbles

+1 on taking to a reputable Subaru garage.
My first pick would be Stechnic in Cannington.

Many people have problems with Subaru dealer servicing.

Could be as simple as a faulty temp sensor, or air lock in system.
Could also be water pump or blockage in radiator.

Is it using any coolant? How much?

Thinking about jacob92's reply I think it might only be happening after boost, I will drive some more and see if that's what's happening

Thanks for the replies, will give stechnic a call

If it only does it after boost you can bet it's your head gasket/s, happened to mine years ago, no signs of anything wrong until I hit boost then the gauge would almost instantly go up.
