Question Turbo Back Exhaust - near new prices

Hi all,

Apologies if this isn't in the right forum, I am not looking to buy/sell anything just now, just looking for some general advice.

I have a TBE that got installed recently for my 2010 WRX (I am guessing from what I have read in other threads that I shouldn't mention where from?) and I guess I got more than I was after when it came to noise level.
The workshop said they can reset me back to stock, but they say the exhaust is mine so I would need to obviously sell it.

They say the system was custom built and high quality so they estimate it was $1850 for the parts (they only have one item that includes labour on the invoice so it is hard to tell), but as I type I see an Ultrex gif advertising $949 for 2010 WRX TBEs just above... great.

There is only 75kms on the odo since the install atm, is anywhere near $1850 a reasonable kind of price to ask anyone who might be interested or would I need to take a massive hit on this purchase to get anything back?

Out of interest, did you get the car tuned with the new exhaust system fitted ?

I would fit a quality resignator in the mid section. May be talk to norm Buttler as he is the man in the know for these types of things.

I will add, sound is a personal choice. It's a bit like the music you listen to and that's quite personal.

+1 for adding a resonator, or look into sticking a Varex muffler on it. Don't ditch a good quality exhaust because it's "too loud".

Interesting, they gave me a price for a resonator when I talked to them about it, but didn't really recommend it as they said it wouldn't make a drastic improvement.

You did encourage me to look around a bit though so I got looking down another track, which is that the exhaust is currently dual cannons, would it be worth asking to get oval mufflers instead? (ie. would it make a decent difference to overall sound and drone?)

(From what I am gleaning online, if I mentioned that I didn't want it too loud then as a custom set up it really shouldn't have ended up as cannons)
