Quietest 3" Mufflers for WRX 2010 Sedan?
Hey all,
So yeah, looks like I have to swap out my cannon mufflers to retain my sanity and my ear drums. The main issue is the vibrations in the boot that shakes the whole car, but if I am replacing what I have then I am wanting to go from one extreme to the other here, I don't care if the subi rumble is completely gone, I just want a 3" muffler that is as quiet, if not quieter than stock. What are peoples suggestions? Obviously ovals rather than cannons, and for brands I have had suggestions to look into Magnaflow, Hitech, TCP, Remus, Ultrex (maybe?) among others (but no specific model numbers). Does anyone have any real world experience with any of these? Youtube videos can only tell you so much. (It sux how you can't really check these things out before you go ahead, I am now pretty paranoid of wasting time and money replacing my noisy muffler with a noisy muffler) |

I seem to remember this being asked already in another thread..
edit - I'm not crazy http://www.perth-wrx.com/vb/mechanic...ew-prices.html Hitech or xforce seem to be go-to options. I have a butler system with single resonator and oval muffler and it is quite good. Xforce even do a varex muffler than can be opened and closed when noise is wanted. Quieter than stock? LOL, why even purchase a WRX then?
Stick two of these in the outlets, it may work. Quote:

Have you looked into putting the stock muffs back on using a reducing 3in>stock join/bit thingy.
I think I've seen a grimspeed unit on carmods previously, tho can't recall exactly. I could be wrong but I don't think you'd need a retune either. Might be an option to restore some sanity whilst you weigh up the options. By all accounts it won't cost you much power either. Search for 'stealth back exhaust' Edit - from my limited experience of this issue, size matters. Generally speaking, the larger muffs are the quietest. There is a highly regarded exhaust shop mentioned in other threads, possibly Carline in West Perth??
Others here could confirm if I've got that right. Find the correct place and take it to them and take their advice on the best option |

Correct, you can speak to Peter at 404 Newcastle St, West Perth WA 6005.
There is also another good exhaust shop near Cloverdale, but my memory fails me at the moment.

You will need a retune/dyno check once you have finished changing the mufflers etc.

Just re-read the initial post. You will not get a 3" as quiet or quieter than stock.
Refit a stock exhaust. Or Sell your WRX and buy a Hyundai. /thread |
